Xpressions 2024: Where Artistry and Talent Ignite!

Event Format:

Round 1 (Stage Performance):

• This round will be conducted live on stage in front of audience.

• Participants must bring their track beat on pen drives or mobile phones.

• Participants can perform a rap of their choice.

• Own rap and track beats would receive extra points.

• The time limit for performance is 4 minutes.

• Negative marks will be awarded if you exceed the time limit.

• Performances will be evaluated for results of competition.

Round 2 (Rap Battle):

• The top performers of Round 1 would be selected for the Rap Battle.

• This round would be a 1v1 freestyle battle, freestyle must be 100% original material and shall not infringe upon any third-party copyrights, trademarks, or other intellectual property rights.

• Performances will be scored for result of the competition

• The participant getting the highest score (Round 1 & 2 altogether) will be the winner.

Judging Criteria:

• Lyrics: Quality and creativity of the words.

• Delivery: Style, flow, clarity, and confidence in presenting the rap.

• Originality: Uniqueness and innovation

• Stage Presence: Confidence, charisma, and connection with the audience.

• Freestyle Skills: Improvisation and quick wit in battle scenarios.

• Relevance and Engagement: Audience engagement

• Audience Reaction: Crowd response and interaction during the performance.

• Adherence to Rules: Compliance with competition guidelines and time limits.

Rules:

• Only individual entries are allowed; group participation is not permitted.

• There is no age limit for participants.

• Rap lyrics can be in Hindi or English but must not contain any offensive language.

• Performances are limited to 4 minutes. Exceeding this time will result in penalties, and performances over 5 minutes will lead to disqualification. Keep track of your time!

• Participants must maintain a courteous and respectful attitude toward fellow musicians.

• A sound system will be provided for the performances.

• Pre-recorded voice notes or materials are strictly prohibited.

• Participants may choose to perform a cover, an original composition, or any song of their choice in Round 1, while Round 2 will consist of a rap battle.

• External devices such as laptops, tablets, iPods, or MIDI controllers are not permitted during the performance.

• Participants must report at least 45 minutes before their scheduled performance time for Round 2.

• Failing to be ready 15 minutes before your stage time in Round 2 will result in disqualification.

• By participating, contestants consent to having their names and performances used in promotional or broadcast materials related to the contest without any compensation or royalties.

• All performances must avoid references to violence or aggressive behavior.

• The use of illegal substances during the event is strictly forbidden.

• Any participant suspected of being under the influence of illegal substances will be disqualified, and authorities will be notified.

• XIMB Bhubaneswar holds the right to disqualify participants who include obscene content in their performances.

• In case of disputes, the decision of the organizers will be final and binding.

• Xpressions 2024 and XIMB Bhubaneswar are the official promoters and organizers of the competition. All participants must accept the judges’ decisions as final and binding.

• XIMB Bhubaneswar reserves the right to disqualify any entry at any stage of the event if it is found to be in violation of the rules or disruptive in any way.
