Decibelz

Decibelz is the resonant battleground where musical virtuosos converge during XIMB’s grand annual fest “Xpressions”. This premier competition amplifies the fervor of creative expression as bands engage in a harmonious clash of melodies. Set against the backdrop of our institution's commitment to excellence, Decibelz promises an extraordinary celebration of talent, defining a crescendo of artistic brilliance within the heart of our academic community.

Round 1 – Details and dates (if available)

• A short video of the band performing a song in under 5 minutes has to be sent to culturalcomm-oc@xim.edu.in. The video can be of a stage performance too.

• Date of last submission - 10/01/2024

Round 2 – Details and dates (if available)

• The top 10 selected teams have to perform on stage in the XIMB campus during Xpressions’ 23

• Date of Final event - 19/01/2024

Rules:

• The band has to consist of three or more members.

• The time limit of the video is to be strictly followed.

• The band name and lyrics of performance songs should not contain any obscenities.

• Any instrument or props need to be brought by the band itself or coordinated before with the given point of contact if necessary.

• All bands agree to have their name, and voice (performance), used in any advertising or broadcasting material relating to this contest without compensation or rights to royalties for such use.

• The entire performance must be violence-free.

• The use of any illegal substances will not be tolerated.

• If any band member is suspected of being under the influence of an illegal substance, the entire band will be disqualified and the proper authorities will be notified.

• The song to be performed or any details corresponding to the same, need to be intimated beforehand, at least a day before.

• All band members are required to be present at least 1 hour prior to performance time.

• If all band members are not present and ready to set up for performance 15 minutes before going on stage, the band will be disqualified..

• All participants are required to be courteous and respectful toward other participating musicians.

• A sound system will be provided but equipment will not so, band members must be prepared.

• Band members are responsible for the security of their equipment.

• Drum set will be provided to all the bands.

• There will be a strict time limit of 15 minutes for each band on stage. The songs need to be prepared accordingly.

• Bands may not use pre-recorded sound material.

• Bands can perform any song(s) of their choice, cover, or an original composition.

• External Sync (Laptop, tablet, iPod, MIDI, etc.) are not allowed during the performance.

• The decision of the organizers with respect to the line-up would be final. The decision of the judges will be final and binding.
